Spring 2 Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of the spring term, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a truly enjoyable and enriching few months for our children. Year 4 have had an amazing time exploring the Black Country Museum, where history was brought to life in such an engaging way, and Reception were equally delighted by their visit to Ash End Farm, learning about animals and the world around them.

Throughout the term, the children have also embraced World Book Day with great enthusiasm—arriving in wonderful costumes, sharing stories, and celebrating the joy of reading together. Our parent workshops have been very well attended, and it has been fantastic to see so many of you involved in supporting your children’s learning.

Your ongoing support makes a tremendous difference. Thank you for everything you do to help ensure our children thrive, achieve, and feel confident in school. We are incredibly grateful for the strong partnership we share with you.

Wishing you and your families a restful and enjoyable break.
We look forward to welcoming the children back for another successful and exciting term.

Warm regards,
Mrs Begum

Safety Guidance: Appropriate Head Coverings in School

Keeping All Children Safe During Physical Activity

The safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. During PE lessons, outdoor play, and all active movement throughout the school day, it is essential that clothing and head coverings do not present a risk to children.

For this reason, any child who chooses to wear a hijab or head covering must wear a pull-on, sports-safe style that:

  • Fits securely
  • Has no loose or hanging fabric
  • Cannot be pulled, caught, or wrapped during movement

Important Safety Rule

Long scarves or wrap-around hijabs are not permitted in school.

This rule applies:

  • Throughout the entire school day
  • During playtimes
  • During PE and physical activities

Loose or trailing fabric can become caught or accidentally pulled, creating a serious safety risk for the wearer and for other children.

Safe Alternatives

To support families in making safe and informed choices, the school recommends the following acceptable alternatives:

  • Pull-on, sports-safe hijab styles
  • Close-fitting head coverings
  • Secure hats or caps suitable for active movement

These options allow children to remain comfortable, confident, and safe while taking part fully in school life.

Our Commitment to Inclusion and Safety

This guidance has been introduced solely for health and safety reasons and is in line with our School Uniform Policy and our duty of care to all pupils.

We are committed to:

  • Respecting religious and cultural dress requirements wherever possible
  • Making reasonable adjustments
  • Ensuring no child is placed at risk during school activities

If parents have questions or wish to discuss individual circumstances, they are encouraged to contact the school so that we can work together to find a safe solution.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and support in helping us keep every child safe.
