Message from Head of School

Thank you for all your support!

It has been an exciting half-term, and the children have truly enjoyed coming to school. They loved working with their teachers and friends, making wonderful memories along the way.

Children have had educational visits, welcomed outside visitors, and engaged in exciting teaching hooks to enhance their learning experience even further.

There are many more exciting things planned for Spring 2, and we can't wait to share them with you!

We hope you have a restful half-term break—stay safe and enjoy yourselves!

Half-term Break

School will finish at the normal time on Friday 14th February for the half-term break. School will re-open for children on Monday 24th February.

Attendance Focus

Punctuality

Attendance and Punctuality Matters!

Unfortunately, we are seeing quite a number of children arriving late for school. Arriving on time for school is important— late arrivals can be disruptive for the class and can be embarrassing for the child who is late. Children can also miss important information during registration, including the plan for the day. Classroom doors open at 8.45am. Children arriving after 9.00am must be signed in at the office and take a slip.  We understand that school mornings can be hectic, but… did you know being 15 minutes late each day is the same as missing two weeks of school?

I would appreciate your support in ensuring your child arrives at school by 8:45 am. This enables them to be ready for their learning, as well as establish great punctuality habits for life.

School Uniform

We would like to remind all parents/carers about the expected school uniform as staff have been noticing many children - especially on PE days - who are not wearing the expected items. We would like to remind you that the correct uniform should be:

● Navy sweatshirt, jumper or cardigan

● Grey/black trousers, shorts, skirts or dresses

● White polo shirts, white shirts or blouses

● Blue and white striped or checked summer dresses

● Black school shoes

Jewellery

Children are allowed to wear small stud earrings and watches (not smart ones) but no other jewellery.

PE

For P.E. days, our pupils should wear a plain white t-shirt, plain black or navy blue shorts/joggers and a black or blue sweatshirt. They should not be wearing branded items. We would appreciate it if you could support us in ensuring that the children are coming to school in the correct uniform.

Educational Visits and Hooks

Y1 Visit to The Black Country Museum

Year 1 enjoying learning about toys from the past and the lives of Victorian children at the Black Country Living Museum.

Y3 Egyptians

Thank you to all our parents and carers who attended the Y3 performance. The children had so much fun sharing their learning and facts with you!

Year 4 Visit to Think Tank

Year 4 went to Think Tank and learnt interesting facts about the different food groups and how their food travels through the digestive system.

We learnt about a healthy, balanced diet and organised different items of food into 5 key groups made up of carbohydrates, protein, milk and dairy products, fruit and vegetables and sugar and fats.

Viking Soup - Slice, Sip and Savour!

As part of the DT unit, the children made Viking soup. They used their cutting, grating and slicing skills. It helped children understand how the Vikings kept themselves nourished during their raids and looting!

Year 5 Visit to Think Tank

Year 5 went to Think Tank to learn more about their science topic, which was Space. The children had an amazing time in the planetarium, where they were able to find out more about the Solar System.

Year 5

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust visited Year 6 to show the impact that Shakespeare has had on countries around the world-including India. The pupils learnt about the famous works of Shakespeare -such as Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet-inspiring Bollywood movie-makers.

Well, Year 5 were lucky enough to see inside a special van painted by world-famous truck artist Haider Ali, who paints trucks such as the one above. It took him over 3months to complete the van below, but the end result is phenomenal!

Comic Relief

Comic Relief Day - Friday, 21st March

We’re excited about celebrating Comic Relief with a special fundraising event! On that day, children can come to school wearing their own clothes, polka dot or spotty outfits, or anything red.

We kindly ask for a £1 donation, which will go towards Comic Relief to help make a difference.

Let’s have fun while raising money for a great cause! 🎉😊

Mobile Phones - Safeguarding during dismissal time

As we work together to keep our children safe, we kindly ask that you remain attentive and present during dismissal time. Please avoid distractions, such as checking your mobile phone, so you can respond quickly to your child’s/children's needs and be aware of your surroundings. Your attentiveness helps ensure a smooth, safe, and positive experience for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation!

Snack Time-Years 3, 4, 5 and 6

If children would like a snack at break times, they may wish to bring a piece of fruit from home.

Ramadan Mubarak

We would like to express our warmest greetings to all our families celebrating the holy month of Ramadan.

Letters will be sent out in spring 2 regarding children fasting during the school day.
