The Sitar was invented in the 18th century by a fakir named Amir Khusro. It is the most well known Indian instrument. The Hindi and Urdu word sitar originally derives from Persian seh + tar, literally meaning “three strings”.
The Shakera is an African instrument which is made from a vegetable called a gourd and decorated with shells or beads. The Shakera is a rattle which makes a sound when shaken.
